Eligibility
Participation is strictly limited to followers of the Shi’a Ithna’asheri (Ja’fari) faith.
Facilities
Umoja Games 2021 will be held at a one-of-a-kind facility, Rivercity Sportsplex in Richmond. The Sportsplex boasts 12 astro-turf fields – 9 nestled together and another 3 that are private for Women’s and Girl’s tournaments. All fields have lights – allowing us to play into the night. The facility will also host plenty of shaded areas that will turn into a Bazaar (festival) in the evenings.
Dates and Format
Umoja Games 2021 will kick-off at 10 AM on Friday, July 2 for all categories and conclude on Sunday, July 4 evening with the Awards. All tournament categories will be based on an 8-aside format with the exception of the new 6-aside Women’s Over 30 category. Players are permitted to play in multiple categories, if eligible.
Age Categories
The tournament will offer 12 categories – a new record. New this year are the Boys Under 19 and Women’s 30 & Over. Other Boy’s and Girl’s categories have been adjusted to reduce the age gap – accounting for their physical development. See Tournament Details for further information.
Eligibility will be based on your age on July 1, 2021
